Pick up a skill that makes your body and soul groove. Roller Dance 101 is created by The Roller Skating Academy in collaboration with Roller Dance Australia Inc, designed to help you discover or refine your dance on wheels.

Join us at our Studio in South Brisbane at 7.30pm on Wednesdays for your online coaching session with Sofi Cherchyk, hosted by Roller Dance Australia. Sofi will be coaching you from Italy (or London) via the wonders of technology, while one of our Roller Dance Australia members will be with you in person to guide you through each move. To ensure you get the most from the session, we will send you a warm up exercise to do prior to class so that you can take care of your body. During class we will review essential techniques, practice bilateral drills and gradually build a choreography. We’ll focus on bounce, rhythm, coordination and flow, using training methods that enhance your balance and help prevent injuries. You will be guided along the way, in person by one of our Roller Dance Australia coaches, ensuring your skills are cemented through coaching, practice and consistency.

The best part is that this intensive program follows a progressive learning curve. You won’t just learn isolated moves - you’ll build a coherent repertoire that allows you to express your own style and feel free on skates; something you can pull out on the rink the next time you go. It doesn’t matter if you already have roller dance experience or are starting from zero: we’ll revisit the foundations, because they’re the basis of every movement.

We know that sometimes practicing outside of class is hard, so we encourage you to try our Roller Studio sessions on Tuesdays to share and connect with other skaters and practice what you’ve learnt. Roller Studio isn’t a rink; it’s a studio where you can practice your moves, learn new sequences and connect with other skaters. With music, good vibes and support from our team, you’ll reinforce what you learn, experiment and feel part of a beautiful community.

WHEN IS ROLLER STUDIO?

Tuesdays 6.00pm - 8.30pm at VENTspace - 23 Glenelg Street South Brisbane

These sessions are open to all abilities, however skaters should be comfortable with balancing, moving forwards and backwards, and stopping.

If you’re still building confidence, we recommend starting with one of our Learn to Skate classes to set strong foundations. These run at 6.30pm on Wednesdays. From there, you’ll be perfectly placed to upgrade into Roller Dance 101.
